Instagram, a free photo sharing program that allows users to take, edit and publish photos via smart phones is changing the way people document their lives. In the past to take a photograph, a film camera with an involved developing process or later digital cameras that then needed photos to be uploaded to a computer and published on a separate site would have been used. The accessibility and easy-to-use nature of Instagram is responsible for it’s huge popularity (50 million users as of March 2012). Instagram photos dominate Tumblr’s user generated content.
